Savings bonds are savings certificates issued by the U.S. Treasury. The current kinds regarding bonds being issued are Series EE and Collection I bonds. EE bonds earned some fixed rate about attention that remains extra to the bond value every month and compounded every six months. Series I bonds make interest based on the inflation rate and interest is added to the bond worth each month and a new inflation rate based interest rate is declared each six months.

Instructions

1 Locate the savings relationship calculator on the Tools menu about web site (see Resources). Away from the home page, pick out the section to "Peoples" and the "Tools" choice will be in the top menu bar.

3 Enter your savings bond information into the calculator. The required items are the bond series, denomination and issue date. The serial number is optional. The concern date is entered as the month and year of issue. For example, 062006 or 06/2006 to a bond purchased on June, 2006.

4 Click on "Work out" to get the value of your bond. The results will provide the bond value, curiosity earned and attention rate the relationship is earning.
